Lot #26/01 The defence of Ladysmith and Mafeking: accounts of two sieges, 1899 to 1900, being the South African War experiences of William Thwaites, Steuart Binny, Alfred Down and Samuel Cawood by Arthur Davey. Original material on the Anglo/Boer War, reproduced from documents in the Brenthurst Library. The first three were written by two officers & a private, from different units besieged in Ladysmith & give differing views of the siege. The last was an eastern Cape uitlander, besieged in Mafeking, who gives his views on that siege. "Brenthurst Press, First Series" #9. Edition limited to 1000 copies only.
